Days 1–4 TIMBAVATI
To begin your South Africa safari, you’ll journey to the wildlife-rich Timbavati region and enjoy a three-night stay at Ngala Safari Lodge. Owned and operated by &Beyond, Ngala is ideally situated overlooking a seasonal river, within its own exclusive reserve. The lodge’s design, crafted from timber, stone, and thatch, provides an authentic safari atmosphere. The lounge and dining areas are both stylish and inviting, while the outdoor spaces feature a traditional boma for al fresco dining and a spacious swimming pool. Additionally, the lodge offers a spa and a gym for relaxation and wellness. The elegantly appointed guest cottages each boast a private veranda, perfect for unwinding and soaking in the stunning river views. Activities include expertly guided game drives, walking safaris, tracking, rhino notching, and photographic safaris. The Ngala Reserve is home to the Big Five – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo – as well as numerous smaller predators and herbivores, and over 350 bird species.
Days 4–7 PHINDA GAME RESERVE
From Timbavati, you’ll journey to Phinda Private Game Reserve, where you’ll stay at &Beyond Phinda Forest Lodge. This unique eco-lodge, set within a rare and breathtaking sand forest, combines style and luxury. The lodge features floor-to-ceiling windows, with guest suites elevated above the forest floor, offering private decks where you can immerse yourself in the tranquil forest surroundings. The rooms are minimalist, with dark wood furniture and light interiors designed to highlight the view of the forest. On-site amenities include a dining deck, a well-stocked bar, an interactive kitchen, a boma area, and a rim-flow swimming pool. Guests can enjoy a range of classic safari activities, with lion, black and white rhino, cheetah, and nyala among the many wildlife highlights that can be spotted on expertly guided game drives. For an additional cost, you can participate in various conservation activities, and if you visit during November or December, you can also join a turtle-nesting adventure.
