DETAILED ITINERARY OF 8 DAYS TANZANIA AND UGANDA SAFARI 

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania – Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, meet your safari driver guide – a representative of Jewel safaris for pickup and transfer to your booked hotel in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you can do an optional city tour for a museum and coffee tour.

Have dinner and overnight at your hotel 

Accommodation: Tulia Boutique Hotel 

Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner 

Day 2: Transfer to Serengeti national park – evening game drive

After breakfast at your hotel, meet your safari guide and head to Serengeti National Park with your packed lunch. From Arusha it is a drive of 7-8 hours’ drive through Karatu and Ngororongoro Conservation Area with stopovers for sightseeing at Lake Manyara View Point and Ngorongoro Crater View and visit to the Olduvai Gorge. 

Arrive in the park in late afternoon, have lunch at a picnic site and go for en-route game drive as you head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Full day Serengeti national park

Have early breakfast and head to the park for a full day game drive with your packed lunch, the game drive starts from far North around the Mara River that is if you visit in the month of the Great Migration which starts from Serengeti National Park heading to Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya

Spend the whole day looking for the large herds of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles filling the savannah plains of the Serengeti. During the full day game drive, lookout for animals such as hippos, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, lions, hyenas, cheetahs, Antelopes, Hartebeests, Zebras among others. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Explore Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, checkout of your lodge and head to Ngorongoro Conservation Area with your packed lunch. From Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater, it is a drive of about 4 hours. Upon arrival, you will descend 600 meters down into the Ngorongoro Crater to explore the crater floor which is 600 m down to crater. 

Ngorongoro Crater hosts over 1 million animals with all the big five including the rare black rhinos, lions, leopards, cape buffaloes and elephants, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, cheetahs, elands among others. 

You will have picnic lunch in the crater and continue exploring, later ascend from the crater and connect to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Arusha – Fly to Entebbe (Uganda)

After breakfast, checkout of the lodge and embark on a drive of 3-4 hours to Arusha City to catch your next flight to Uganda. 

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will meet our driver and head to your booked hotel in Entebbe. Check-in for dinner and overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park

After breakfast, meet your driver and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Southwestern Uganda. From Kampala to Bwindi, it is a drive of approximately 540 kilometers – 9 hours of drive by road. Along the way, you will have a stopover at the equator for photography and the experiment and have another stopover in Mbarara for lunch. 

Proceed to Bwindi arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking experience

Have early morning breakfast and transfer to the park’s headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking with your packed lunch, the briefing is conducted by a senior ranger guide who takes you through rules and regulations to follow during the trek and while in the forests of Bwindi. 

In groups of 8 people, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and later head into the forest of your trek looking for mountain gorillas. The trek takes about 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas, the gorillas freely roam through the forests of Bwindi and the only way you tell them where they are is by tracking them by the footprints done by a trained ranger guide.

On finding the gorillas, you will be allowed to have 1 hour of viewing the mountain gorillas and taking photos of these gentle giants. 

Enjoy your lunch and head back to the park’s headquarters to pick your gorilla trekking certificates, meet your guide and transfer back to your lodge or go to the Batwa Community for a cultural tour.

Day 8: Transfer back to Entebbe and Departure

After breakfast, you will transfer back to Kampala with a stopover in Mbarara Town for lunch. Proceed to Entebbe arriving in late afternoon, you will be drop off at the hotel either in Kampala or Entebbe or at Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight back home.

Jewel Safaris has a jewel in a female driver, Rachel My trip to Lake Mburo National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park on 5th Jan 2024, could not have gone better. My great experience was all down to Jewel Safaris' professionalism and industry experience. The car arrived at my house on time (5 am) to pick me up for the trip. The tour guide driver, a lady named Rachel Aheebwa, was such a delight. Female tour guides drivers are so rare, so this was unexpected. But looking back at how much of a success my tour went, Rachel was the best part of the trip. Two hours into the drive, she suggested a breakfast place that turned out to serve the best coffee I'd ever taken. The small eatery happened to be ran by a lady with tourism experience of 17 years. We set off for Lake Mburo about an hour later and arrived at the park gate three hours later. Because we planned to sleep in Queen Elizabeth National Park and we still had hundreds of kilometers to cover, she made sure we wasted no time Mburo. She was always friendly and firm in her advice when it came to time keeping. We made it to our final destination before dark and had time to rest. Before going to bed, she told me, firmly that we must leave at 7 if we are to see all the animals we wanted to see. I would have loved to sleep in but she made it clear that this was not an option. I was later thankful for this. There were several tourist vehicles at the UWA offices when we arrived. After payments, all the cars left through a Northwards track but Rachel went Eastwards and in less than thirty minutes of Game driving, we hit a jack pot. We found lions on the road and I was able to take close up pictures for several minutes as she made calls to all her friends letting them know that she had found lions. By the time all the vehicles crowded around the lions, I had spend over half an an hour with them. One of the best moments of my life. Jewel safaris couldn't have chosen a better tour guide driver for me. Every thing was well planned to help me see all there was to be seen.

Murchison Falls Adventure This was my first safari adventure and it was a trip of a lifetime. The owner, Dona was very professional and helpful and made sure he understood what we wanted. The vehicle was wonderful and roomy and well kept. Our guide, Patrick made the trip exceptional. He knew the park, he knew the animals and he was a former ranger who spent years protecting the animals of that park. It was clear that the other guides respected him and Patrick was kind, funny and made sure we had a wonderful adventure. The first night, the owner called me to ask how everything was going and he messaged me after the trip to make sure we had a great time. That was above and beyond what I expected. Great company, great customer service and fantastic guide with years of experience. This is the company I would choose over and over.

Great agency We ordered the trip in 2019 to go to Uganda in April 2020. Then Covid came and the trip was postponed for 2,5 yrs and in the meantime we kept contact and When we finally could go it all went super-smooth. Well organized and very friendly personnel and a fantastic guide. Nothing went wrong during the 10 days we visited and the arrangements were spotless.
