6 days Uganda gorillas and Murchison Falls flying safari is an exciting Uganda primate and wildlife safari designed to offer you the best gorilla tracking adventure and excellent wildlife encounters. 

This tour takes you on a safari to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to half of the remaining mountain gorilla population and is recognized as the best place to the world to see the endangered and rare mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. 

Murchison Falls is the second destination to visit on this safari, this beautiful park is recognized among the best wildlife destinations in Uganda. The park is home to 4 of the Big Five that is lions, leopards, cape buffaloes and leopards. 

On this safari, you will typically fly as a way of connecting to these amazing destinations.

Itinerary 

Day 1: Arrival and Fly to Murchison Falls

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by a representative of Jewel Safaris and connect for a domestic flight to Murchison Falls National Park. Upon landing at Pakuba airstrip, you will be welcomed by your safari-driver guide and head to your lodge with en-route game drive. Check in for lunch and short rest, in the afternoon you will go for a game drive and visit to the top of falls. 

Some of the animals you will see during the game drive including the towering giraffes, lions, buffaloes, elephants, wild dogs, hartebeests, waterbucks, oribis, Uganda kobs among others. 

At the top of the Murchison Falls, you will enjoy magnificent views of Nile River squeezing through narrow gorge before falling with a thunderous roar to form Murchison Falls, the most powerful falls in the world.

Day 2: Explore Murchison Falls National Park

Wake up early for a cup of coffee, meet your driver-guide and head go for an early morning game drive around the Buligi game tracks on the northern bank with a trained ranger guide for sights of various animals in the Nile Valley. Lookout for herds of buffaloes, waterbucks, Jackson’s hartebeests, Rothschild giraffe, elephants, oribi and baboons which are early risers. 

After the game drive, you will be driven back to the lodge for a full breakfast and rest for a while waiting for lunch. 

In the afternoon, you will go for a launch cruise on the Victoria Nile to the bottom of the Murchison Falls. On the banks of the river, you will spot various animals including the largest hippos and crocodiles, herds of buffaloes and a rich birdlife on the papyrus banks such as the shoe bill and herons among others.  

Thereafter, you will return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Meal Plan: Full Board  

Day 3: Fly to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park 

Have a morning breakfast, depending on your flight time you will be driven to the airstrip with en-route game drive for your domestic flight to Kisoro airstrip which serves Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. 

Upon arrival at the airstrip, you will be welcomed by your guide and connect to the park. You will spend the rest of the day at lodge resting. 

In the evening, you will have dinner and stay overnight

Accommodation: Buhoma Lodge or Mahogany Springs Lodge

Day 4: Mountain Gorilla Trekking Experience   

Have early breakfast, head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking’s dos and don’ts. In groups of 8 people, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek then head into the forests of Bwindi looking for the gorillas. The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending the gorilla family you are trekking and their feeding range, you will also encounter other primates in the forest such as chimpanzees and black and white colobus monkey and many birds. 

When you locate the gorillas, you will spend one hour in their presence while observing their behavior, watch the female gorillas take care of their babies, silverbacks protecting the group and take memorable pictures. 

Return to the park’s headquarters to pick your gorilla trekking certificates and to your lodge where you will spend the rest of the day at relaxation. Have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 5: Forest Walk and Batwa Village Visit 

Have leisure breakfast, you will head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about a forest walk and head into the forests of Bwindi, using several trails you will explore the verdant forest. With a ranger guide, you will see the falls along the River Ivi-Nkuringo trail, see many tree species such as ferns, orchids and many birds and primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons among others. 

After this amazing experience, you will return to the lodge for lunch and short rest. 

In the afternoon, you will go to the Batwa Community for a cultural visit. The Batwa pygmy people used to live in Bwindi forests until the forest was designated as a protected area. You will be entertained by local dances and drama, get to visit a local herbalist and learn about the usage of various plants and leaves to heal various illness such as malaria cough among others. Also, you will be entertained by local dances and drama. 

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Return to Kampala

After breakfast, you will head to the airstrip for your domestic flight back to Entebbe International Airport. Then either head to your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe or connect for your international flight back home.

Jewel Safaris has a jewel in a female driver, Rachel My trip to Lake Mburo National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park on 5th Jan 2024, could not have gone better. My great experience was all down to Jewel Safaris' professionalism and industry experience. The car arrived at my house on time (5 am) to pick me up for the trip. The tour guide driver, a lady named Rachel Aheebwa, was such a delight. Female tour guides drivers are so rare, so this was unexpected. But looking back at how much of a success my tour went, Rachel was the best part of the trip. Two hours into the drive, she suggested a breakfast place that turned out to serve the best coffee I'd ever taken. The small eatery happened to be ran by a lady with tourism experience of 17 years. We set off for Lake Mburo about an hour later and arrived at the park gate three hours later. Because we planned to sleep in Queen Elizabeth National Park and we still had hundreds of kilometers to cover, she made sure we wasted no time Mburo. She was always friendly and firm in her advice when it came to time keeping. We made it to our final destination before dark and had time to rest. Before going to bed, she told me, firmly that we must leave at 7 if we are to see all the animals we wanted to see. I would have loved to sleep in but she made it clear that this was not an option. I was later thankful for this. There were several tourist vehicles at the UWA offices when we arrived. After payments, all the cars left through a Northwards track but Rachel went Eastwards and in less than thirty minutes of Game driving, we hit a jack pot. We found lions on the road and I was able to take close up pictures for several minutes as she made calls to all her friends letting them know that she had found lions. By the time all the vehicles crowded around the lions, I had spend over half an an hour with them. One of the best moments of my life. Jewel safaris couldn't have chosen a better tour guide driver for me. Every thing was well planned to help me see all there was to be seen.

Murchison Falls Adventure This was my first safari adventure and it was a trip of a lifetime. The owner, Dona was very professional and helpful and made sure he understood what we wanted. The vehicle was wonderful and roomy and well kept. Our guide, Patrick made the trip exceptional. He knew the park, he knew the animals and he was a former ranger who spent years protecting the animals of that park. It was clear that the other guides respected him and Patrick was kind, funny and made sure we had a wonderful adventure. The first night, the owner called me to ask how everything was going and he messaged me after the trip to make sure we had a great time. That was above and beyond what I expected. Great company, great customer service and fantastic guide with years of experience. This is the company I would choose over and over.

Two-day trip to Lake Mburo Our two-day trip to Lake Mburo with our driver and guide Patrick was great. He delivered what we asked for, and more! Other than being a very kind person and good driver, Patrick was able to share a lot of information about the different animals and places we encountered. Great agency We ordered the trip in 2019 to go to Uganda in April 2020. Then Covid came and the trip was postponed for 2,5 yrs and in the meantime we kept contact and When we finally could go it all went super-smooth. Well organized and very friendly personnel and a fantastic guide. Nothing went wrong during the 10 days we visited and the arrangements were spotless.
