OVERVIEW

This luxurious Tanzania and Zanzibar Holiday takes you on a tour to the main Tanzania wildlife destinations of the Tanzania Northern Safari Circuit followed by relaxation on the beautiful islands of Zanzibar.

The exciting Tanzania adventure start in Arusha City and then fly to Lake Manyara National Park famous for the tree climbing lions and flocks of birds including pink flamingos, descend to Ngorongoro Crater where you will see many animals including lions, leopards among others and head to Serengeti national park where you will see the Great Migration and other animals including the Big Five – lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, elephants and rhinos. 

After the Tanzania safari, you will head Zanzibar islands for a relaxing and uninterrupted leisure on the idyllic white sands.

DETAILED ITINERARY OF 12 DAYS TANZANIA SAFARI AND ZANZIBAR 

Day 1: Arrival and rest day in Arusha 

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by our representative and after a short briefing you will be transferred to the hotel in Arusha where you will spend the rest of day relaxing. Depending on the time of your arrival, you will enjoy your hotel, relax at the swimming pool or take a swim. 

Have Dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: Lake Manyara 

After breakfast, you will be picked up and start your journey to Lake Manyara National Park driving through the town of Karatu.

Lake Manyara National Park is a scenic national park with a backdrop of the Great Rift Valley and drive through a dense forest teeming with primate population including baboon, common monkey, vervet monkey and the nocturnal bush babies.

The largest part of the park is dominated by Lake Manyara covering around 230 square kilometers and was described as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa” by Ernest Hemingway, the lake is home to resident hippo pods as well a wonderful birdlife. 

After a full day game drive and enjoying sights of many animals including tree climbing lions, zebras, elands among others. Leave the park in afternoon and head to Ngorongoro crater, check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Full day in Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will head to Ngorongoro crater with a stop at the crater view point on the rim where you will enjoy scenic views of the crater. Then descend to crater floor also known as the wildlife Eden, Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for being a unique natural phenomenon. 

On this day, you will explore the crater and enjoy sightings of many animals including lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, gazelles, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles among others. You will also visit Lake Magadi where you will have picnic lunch and have a chance to stretch your legs, continue exploring the crater till evening. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Serengeti National Park 

After breakfast, you will depart Ngorongoro with morning game drive through the crater to the southern reaches of Serengeti National Park. This area is also known as Ndutu plains and it is a drive of approximately 5 hours, with en-route game drive you will head to the lodge/camp for lunch after check in. 

Later in the afternoon you will go a game drive in the plains of Serengeti, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5 -6: Full-day game drives 

You will spend these two days exploring the endless plains of Serengeti, the vast plains of Serengeti are the perfect territory for lions, leopard, elephant, buffaloes and rhinos among others.

In the Central Serengeti, you will enjoy excellent wildlife sightings. In the months of April – June and November, you many have chances of seeing thousands of Zebras and wildebeests as they pass through this area in search for water and green pastures.

Day 7: Fly to Zanzibar 

Depending on the time of your flight, you may have a final game drive through the plains of Serengeti national park, head to the airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar Island. This flight is an adventure of its own as you will enjoy aerial views of the Serengeti plains. 

Upon landing at Zanzibar Airport, you will be picked by our representative / your guide and head to your lodge/ resort in Zanzibar.

Day 8 – 11: Relax and Enjoy Zanzibar 

You will 4 days exploring Zanzibar in your leisure as you please.

The beautiful Zanzibar islands are one of the best beach destinations in the world with many activities to do such as visiting the prison Island and its tortoise sanctuary, exploring the Jozani Forest in search for the endangered Zanzibar red colobus monkeys and visit The Stone Town and a local spice population.

Day 12: Departure

After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
