Days 1–4 SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK

Your journey in Zambia starts with a three-night stay at Puku Ridge, nestled on a rocky hillside within South Luangwa National Park. This stunning location provides breathtaking views of the floodplains, alive with resident wildlife.

Unparalleled Comfort with a View

Puku Ridge’s communal areas include a cozy lounge, an elegant dining space, and a well-stocked bar. Below the lodge, a shaded veranda features a charming “love-seat,” offering a perfect spot for romantic moments while watching wildlife gather at nearby rock pools and waterholes. These attract a variety of animals, from grazing herbivores to prowling predators.

The lodge boasts seven luxurious en-suite safari tents, each thoughtfully designed with:

Activities at Puku Ridge include exhilarating day and night game drives and walking safaris, offering unique perspectives of the park’s incredible biodiversity. This region is home to an abundance of wildlife, including lions, leopards, elephants, hyenas, a variety of antelope species, and over hundreds of bird species—a true haven for nature enthusiasts.

Days 4–7 LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK

On the fourth day of your trip, you will fly to the Lower Zambezi to stay at Old Mondoro. This camp is one of our absolute favourites across all of Safari Africa! Its location, right on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, is unbeatable, offering breathtaking views and abundant wildlife.

Built in the style of a traditional bush camp, Old Mondoro features a classic mess structure that houses a comfy lounge and dining space. This open-sided area allows you to relax and enjoy delicious meals while taking in the stunning river views and the wildlife it attracts—elephants are especially common here!

The guest accommodation includes just four reed-and-canvas chalets, each designed for comfort and simplicity. The chalets come with double or twin beds, en-suite facilities including a flush toilet, washbasin, an outdoor shower, and a bath overlooking the river. While it’s not the most luxurious camp, Old Mondoro offers all the essential comforts while maintaining a charming back-to-nature atmosphere.

Activities here are plentiful, ranging from day and night game drives to bush walks and river safaris. Canoeing and fishing are also available, providing unique ways to explore the area. The Lower Zambezi is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, including predators such as lion, leopard, spotted hyena, and wild dog, as well as herbivores like elephant, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, and many antelope species. Birdlife is equally impressive, with a wide array of species to spot.

Days 7–10 LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK

From Old Mondoro, it’s a short boat transfer along the Zambezi River to conclude your safari at Chiawa Camp. Family-owned and operated, Chiawa stands as one of Zambia’s premier luxury safari camps. Everything here is executed to perfection—from exceptional guiding and a strong conservation ethos to fine dining and deluxe cotton bedsheets that elevate your comfort.

The communal area is an impressive wooden, two-tiered structure offering spectacular views over the river. The guest accommodation comprises spacious canvas tents, each featuring a super-king-sized bed, a private lounge area, and a luxurious bathroom complete with a roll-top bath and twin washbasins. Every tent provides breathtaking views of the Zambezi River and its abundant wildlife, including elephant, lion, leopard, hippo, and crocodile.
