Overview of the suggested Zambia safari lodges and activities:
This unforgettable journey takes you from the game-rich South Luangwa National Park to the scenic Lower Zambezi, two of Zambia’s premier safari destinations. South Luangwa is famous for its exceptional walking safaris, night drives, and unparalleled leopard sightings—arguably the best in Africa! After spending four nights here, you’ll head to the Lower Zambezi for another four nights, where you can enjoy a mix of game drives, walking safaris, boating, and canoeing along the stunning riverside.
The two camps featured on this safari are Mchenja Bush Camp and Chongwe Camp. Mchenja is nestled on the banks of the Luangwa River, surrounded by a grove of ebony trees, while Chongwe sits at the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi rivers, just outside the Lower Zambezi National Park boundary. Both camps offer an intimate and immersive experience with incredible wildlife encounters and world-class guiding.

Days 1–5 SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK
On Day 1 of your trip, you will fly into the South Luangwa National Park and transfer to Mchenja Bush Camp. Nestled under a stunning canopy of ebony trees, the camp’s name, “Mchenja,” reflects the abundance of these magnificent trees that provide shade and atmosphere to the area. The Luangwa River, which runs nearby, is a magnet for wildlife, drawing an array of animals eager for a drink.
The camp’s main areas are built around a fallen ancient ebony tree, adding to the magical charm of the place. The lounge and dining spaces are inviting, offering comfort and tranquility. Between activities, you can cool off in the camp’s plunge pool—perfect for relaxing in the heat of the day.
Mchenja also features a family unit with two bedrooms, ideal for two adults and up to three children.
Activities at Mchenja revolve around exceptional day and night game drives and walking safaris. Both vehicle and walking safaris are renowned for their quality, with some of the highest standards of guiding and service in the entire Luangwa Valley.
Days 5–9 LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK
For the second half of your safari, you will fly to Chongwe Camp. Located just outside the Lower Zambezi National Park, the camp offers breathtaking views of the river confluence with a stunning escarpment as a backdrop. The main areas of the camp are designed with comfort in mind, incorporating a unique old termite mound into the structure. Meals are often enjoyed al fresco on the riverbank, where you can watch wildlife come down to drink while you dine.
Activities at Chongwe include game drives, walking safaris, boat trips, and canoeing. The Lower Zambezi offers a fantastic change of pace, with a greater focus on water-based activities like boat safaris, fishing, and canoeing.
