From Kigali, the drive to the national park takes about 2 hours. Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park starts at the Kinigi headquarters as early as 7:00 am which is also the briefing point. A gorilla permit for Virunga national park is 400 USD and is affordable for tourists to visit gorillas in comparison to Bwindi national park and Volcanoes national park. The gorillas can be seen in the lush forests of Virunga national park in groups of 8 people visiting a gorilla family and 1 hour is spent with the gorillas.
