The Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary majorly protects Uganda’s only wild rhinoceros that are rapidly being killed. The killing bit made Uganda wisely foresee the need to protect these animals to ensure that dozens of memories after tracking, habituating, and doing several activities of its visitors are maintained and upgraded and not cut short since they were heading to extinction. Rhinoceros are one of the big five animals found in Uganda hence there is a big responsibility and need to safeguard these animals from extinction thus ensuring that the big 5 animals are generationally passed on and living.
Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary was established by a combination of various wildlife and conservation organizations with full intentions to restore Uganda’s rhinoceros population. There was a need to protect the rhinos from people and Africa’s predators/ poachers watch them as they breed and grow and then re-introduce the rhinos into Uganda’s protected areas, such as Queen Elizabeth National Park.
