Sibiloi National Park. “The Cradle of Mankind” best identified as the cradle of mankind lies on the northeastern shore of Lake Turkana in northern Kenya. Established in 1973 by the government of Kenya for the protection of wildlife and paleontological sites there, it covers 1570 km² and is internationally known for its fossils.

Sibiloi National Park serves as a stopover for migrant waterfowl and is a major breeding ground for the Nile crocodile.

A total of over 350 species of aquatic and terrestrial birds have been recorded in Lake Turkana. The most famous remains from Sibiloi National Park are the Australopithecus and early homo fossils. These have been moved to Nairobi, but fossil non-humanoids are on display in the museum.
