The impressive waterfalls have a local tale that the rock formations which form these waterfalls were arranged by a traditional spirit known as ‘Karuma’ and it’s from this that the falls derived its name. Karuma Wildlife Reserve is initially part of Murchison Falls Conservation Area, located in the eastern border of the park within a one-hour’s drive from Gulu town.
The magnificent Karuma Falls which is part of Karuma Wildlife Reserve is comprised of various naturally cascading rock- formations that appear like a series of steps all the way to the bottom of the calm Victoria Nile. The art and order in which these rocks are arranged is very impressive and you will be fascinated at first sight.
