Visiting The Rock Restaurant – Zanzibar is one of the most fascinating sites in Zanzibar and one most instagrammable restaurants on the island, this beautiful restaurant is located on a unique position on a rock in the middle of the Indian Ocean, South East of the island on the Michamwi Pingwe Peninsula in Zanzibar. The Rock Restaurant is about 10 minutes car drive from Paje Village, I hour from Stone Town Zanzibar and 1.5 hours drive from the extreme north tip of Zanzibar Island, Nungwi. The Rock Restaurant offers a fascinating and memorable dining experience as you visitors get to enjoy delicious meals in the middle of the Ocean, the restaurant is perched on a Zanzibar Rock boasting breathtaking views of Indian Ocean. The Restaurant accommodates 45 diners at a time and it is 7 meters high allowing the water around it to rise 4.5 meters up the rock, there are 2 ways to access the restaurant. If the tide is low, you can simply walk along the rock paths that takes you to the stairs of the restaurant. In case the tired is high, there is a small wooden boat that takes you directly to the stairs and its service is offered by the restaurant. Note: In case of high tide, all the diners are provided with boats back to the shore. The Rock Restaurant offers both indoor dining and outdoor seating over the sea, breathtaking views and fresh sea air which are one of the reasons to why it is frequented by a lot of travelers visiting Zanzibar for a holiday. The restaurant serves a wide variety of seafood which is always served as fresh as the nature’s beauty surrounding the restaurant, diners are served fresh fish caught from the Indian Ocean. All the food served has a distinct twist of the Zanzibar Cuisine which include delicacies like Fish Carpaccio, Calamari prepared with prawns and Zucchini or familiar treats like Lobster Spaghetti and much more. Drinks such as wine, bear and soft drinks are served at the restaurant. The Menu at The Rock Restaurant Zanzibar is largely European – inspired, highlights local seafood and house made pasta, a selection of globally recognized options are offered at the restaurant. The meals at the restaurant aims to impart the flavors of Zanzibar and the surrounding region in every dish, the fish carpaccio is served with coconut, lime and chili paper.
Most of the desserts at the restaurant range from chocolate salami to pineapple flambe which is topped with Zanzibar spices – ice cream. The beef, spices and vegetables served at the Restaurant are all farmed nearby.
