3 Days Sipi Falls Hike Tour Safari Overview
Sipi Falls is located in Sipi village, Kapchorwa district in eastern Uganda. Sipi falls is a series of three spectacular waterfalls which lie on the foothills of Mount Elgon. The Sipi falls are an amazing attraction and one not to miss while visiting the eastern region of Uganda. The drive from Kampala to Jinja through Mbale to Kapchorwa takes about 4-5 hours.
Brief itinerary
- Day 1: Pickup from your hotel/airport pickup/transfer to Sipi falls
- Day 2: Hiking, local coffee processing experience, and cultural experience.
- Day 3: Return to Kampala.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Kampala>Sipi falls. Leave Kampala around 7:00 am with a pick up from the hotel of your residence. Drive through Jinja highway to eastern Uganda. Catch a glimpse of the most amazing features along the way; Mabira rain forest and River Nile in Jinja. Lunch will be had along the way. You will drive through Mbale town to Kapchorwa. Upon arrival, you will check in at the lodge and choose to take an evening walk to the adjacent communities or relax at the lodge as you await the next day’s activity.
Day 2: Hiking, abseiling, local coffee processing experience and cultural experience. Shortly after your breakfast, start the hike to the falls. It can you about 3 hours depending on the productivity of the walk. Along the way, you have lots of things to see like the Von Hohnel’s chameleon and birds. It is known that Mount Elgon is among Uganda’s top destinations for birds. You will come across different beautiful types of birds like Tacazze Sunbird, Mountain Wagtail, Red-winged Starling, and Red-backed Shrike. At the top you can abseil from the top of the 100metre high Sipi Falls providing you with excellent panoramic views.
Later, you will take on a coffee tour. Sipi has some of the finest Arabica coffee in the world. Tour coffee plantations and learn about the whole process. You will also learn how to roast your own coffee and enjoy your own cup. You can also choose to have an encounter with the local people and learn about their culture. Later head back to the lodge for evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Sipi falls>Kampala. Enjoy your breakfast, check out and return back to Kampala or Entebbe. Arrive in Kampala in time for lunch. After lunch, optional drop off at your hotel or the airport for your flight.
