3 Days Uganda birding safari

This birding safari takes you to Mabamba swamp in Entebbe and Lake Mburo National Park, the smallest savannah park in the western part of Uganda.

Brief itinerary

Day 1: Mabamba swamp and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

Day 3: Walking safari and transfer to Kampala/Entebbe

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Mabamba Swamp>Lake Mburo National Park. After breakfast, you will drive to Mabamba swamp, an important birding destination in Uganda famous for the most sought-after bird, the shoebill. Among other bird species to encounter include; Papyrus Gonolek, Greater Swamp Warbler, Striated Heron, Wayne’s Weaver, Northern-brown throated Weaver, White-winged warbler, Lesser Jacana, Little Bittern, Garganey, Yellow-billed ducks among others. You will return for lunch and later transfer to Lake Mburo National Park with an enroute stop over at the equator for a photo session.  Arrival in Lake Mbruo will be later in the evening for evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.  

Day 2: Lake Mburo National Park. After breakfast, you will head out for a game drive with chances of seeing animals like giraffes, buffaloes, impalas and certain bird species such as Tabora Cisticola, Brown chested Plover, Red Faced Barbet and many others. You will return for lunch and prepare for an afternoon boat cruise. While on the boat cruise, you will be able to spot more bird life like; the African Fish Eagle, Pied King Fisher, African Fin foot, to mention but a few. Return to the lodge for evening relaxation, dinner and overnight. 

Day 3: Lake Mburo National Park>Kampala/Entebbe 

You will have breakfast and head out for a walking safari. The park is the only one where walking safaris are allowed in the company of an armed ranger. The walk gives you an opportunity to experience the nature of the park and get a close encounter with the animals and sighting several bird species. You will later return to the lodge for lunch, then you check out and start your journey to Kampala/Entebbe. Optional drop off at your hotel or at the airport for your flight.
