2 Days Uganda Birding Safari Overview
This safari takes you to Mabamba Swamp & Entebbe Botanical Gardens for the best bird watching experience in Uganda. It consists of bird watching in Entebbe botanical gardens-home to several Uganda bird species within the area of Kampala including lake Victoria then later head to Mabamba swamp, 50km from Kampala and home to many bird species including the shoebill stock.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Birding at the Entebbe Botanical Gardens. In the morning after breakfast, transfer to Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Center formerly known as the Entebbe zoo. While there, you will be able to view the birds such as Scaly Francolin, Meyer’s Parrot, Great-blue Turracco, Western Nicator, swamp Flycatchers, Red-bellied Flycatcher, Orange Weaver, African-fish Eagle, etc. Depart and head to Entebbe botanical gardens for another bird watching experience. The botanical gardens consist of birds from all over Kampala they include those from Lake Victoria they include the African goshawk, Goshawk Laughing doves, and many more.
Day 2: Birding in Mabamba Swamp and Nkima Hill. After an early morning breakfast, you will be picked by the Jewel Safaris guide from your hotel and drive to Nakiwogo in Entebbe. Upon arrival, you will take a motorized boat/canoe paddled by an experienced local personal to go searching for the elusive shoebill stork and other bird species. As you raw through the narrow water channels, you will begin to notice the presence of birds, the most noticeable ones include Papyrus Gonolek, Squacco Heron, Purple Swamphen, White-faced Whistling duck, African jacana, Blue Swallows, Blue-breasted bee eaters, African pygmy goose among others and of course the most non-evolving pre-historic Shoebill stork. You will spend about 3 hours exploring this spectacular gem then return for lunch. After lunch, you will proceed for another birding experience at Nkima hill covered by a forest in search for species like the rare Bat hawk, red-headed Malimbe, white-spotted Fluff tail, Fraser’s Flycatcher, and yellow-whiskered Greenbul. Later drive back for an optional drop off at your hotel for evening relaxation or at the airport for your flight.
