Detailed Itinerary – 4 Days Rwanda Gorilla trekking and Bisoke Hike
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Volcanoes National Park.
On the first day of your 4 Days Rwanda Gorilla trekking and Bisoke hike safari, you will be met at Kigali International Airport by your Jewel Safaris guide, who will give you a brief tour of Kigali City before beginning your drive to the Volcanoes National Park. You will have lunch in Kigali. After lunch, you will then drive to Volcanoes National Park, approximately a 2-hour drive from Kigali City center. When you arrive at your accommodation, you will have an option to either rest up for the next day’s activity, or your guide can take you to a local village nearby to visit the community that has traditionally lived in and around the park. This will give you the opportunity to learn about the people, their way of life and even taste some local dishes.
Overnight at the preferred accommodation facility.
Gorilla trekking
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking – Virunga National Park.
After your breakfast on the second day of your 4 Days Rwanda Gorilla trekking and Bisoke hike safari, you will be taken to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters where you will meet your Ranger-Guide who will lead you on the Gorilla Tracking Tour. It could take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours to spot the gorillas, depending on where they are on that day. After trekking, if time permits, you will be taken to Ruthengeri for lunch and a tour of the beautiful lakes in the region. In the late afternoon, you will be taken to your accommodation for evening relaxation.
Day 3: Hiking the Bisoke Volcano(3.711mm).
After an early breakfast you will be taken to the basecamp of the volcano for a briefing, and then taken to the start point for the climb. After the climb, you will be driven back to Kigali, checking into your hotel for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
Day 4: Kigali airport city tour.
After breakfast, you will be picked up at your hotel and given a further tour of Kigali and its environs, after which you will be taken to the airport to catch your flight.

Virunga National Park
Virunga National Park is Africa’s most biologically diverse protected area. The Park is 7,800 square kilometers in size and includes forest, savannas, lava plains, swamps, erosion valleys, active volcanoes, and the glaciated peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains. In addition to being the home of a quarter of the world’s Mountain Gorillas, Virunga National Park also has two other Great Ape species, the eastern lowland gorillas and chimpanzees. Another interesting inhabitant of the park is the Okapi; an endangered species that resembles a zebra but is more closely related to the giraffe. There are lots of hippos, forest and savanna elephants, lions, and many rare bird species.
Bisoke Volcano
The top of Bisoke Volcano has a spectacular crater lake, which makes it a popular activity for tourists to Rwanda. The climb takes from 3 to 6 hours depending on your abilities, and 1 – 2 hours to descend. The hikes begin at 7 am with a briefing, and set off around 8. Porters are assigned to carry your luggage.
