Eco friendly lodges in Bwindi national park focus on renewable energy sources to provide power to their properties as well as using energy efficient lighting and water preservation. In other words they focus on recycling in order to positively impact the environment.

An authentic eco-friendly lodge empowers the local staff, sourcing local produce and supporting sustainable tourism development. They also encourage the guests to preserve the natural and cultural heritage. A lodge that is committed to reducing its carbon footprint through implementing a series of sustainable actions such as reducing waste, favouring cleaning products that are non-toxic and biodegradable, installing solar panels, reducing both energy and water consumption.  These lodges do series of different eco-friendly activities such as giving back to the communities in Bwindi they are in through supporting them either by buying locally made products produced by farmers, the lodges also work with local artisans to create eco-friendly soap  and other amenities and this helps to reduce environment waste.  The lodges also reduce waste created in check-ins process through the help of mobile check-ins instead of cutting copies of new keys every time. Four Gorillas Lodge The lodge is located in Rubuguri, Rushaga sector which is the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. The lodge offers both luxury and satisfaction to human craving on fulfilling tourists wants to different activities in and around the lodge. The lodge was built inform of cottages which are surrounded by very dense forest.  The lodge has free shuttle services to and from Kisoro Airstrip, a restaurant with different kind of meals they include; continental and local meals, there is a bar as well. The Lodge is Eco Friendly in terms of its building and setting which eco-friendly since it is elegantly integrated in to the rainforest setting which does not disrupts the environment. The lodge maximises use of renewable use of renewable energies like solar for lighting and use of energy efficient equipment. The lodge is providing renewable electricity for visitors’ personal electric devices usage in their rooms The lodge collects water from rain harvesting tanks. This water is used by clients to shower, flushing toilets, washing beddings as well as cleaning the lodge.  The lodge is also being eco-friendly by supporting the community through providing employment to the local people and also giving back to the community through giving the community people some contribution money on projects they bring forward especially though concerning environment conservation. The lodge is recycling water as well as reusing water. This is being done by sensitizing lodge staff on the best ways to reuse, recycle and reduce.  Plastic use at the lodge is being minimized by the lodge management by providing a collective place where it is gathered.

Agandi Uganda Safaris and Eco Lodges

The lodge is located on the edges of Bwindi impenetrable national park, it is known for its amazing mountain gorillas. Ruhija belongs to Rubanda district a highland area in the southwest areas with steep slopes. Agandi Uganda safaris and eco loges offers different services and facilities that include a restaurant that offers both local and continental foods that meet clients appetite.  The meals are served by well trained and organised staff, the breakfast is served to you either in the room or the gardens while facing the forest, lunch  and dinner is served to their clients either indoor or outdoor depending on your preference, sometimes in the bush which will enable the tourist to watch over the forest canopy. Some of the practices that are eco-friendly the lodge is practising include; The lodge uses improved cooking stoves for cooking instead of using firewood that is made by cutting down trees and this practice is reducing the cutting down of trees in search for firewood. The lodge maximizes use of renewable use of renewable energies like solar for lighting and use of energy efficient equipment.  The lodge is providing renewable electricity for visitors’ personal electric devices usage in their rooms The lodge pays an important attention to water as Ruhija is not connected to the water supply network, the lodge harvest its own water by making use of the rain water. The lodge management treats all the waste water onsite, they also sensitize the guests on reasonable usage of water.  The lodge has dedicated part of its land for a green farming school. Children from the different schools the lodge is partnering with have access to third garden to grow vegetables and get sensitized to alternative agricultural conservation practices. The lodge does its best to sort out their own waste especially plastic and do a lot of prevention even when sorting the waste is still a big challenge in Uganda.

The eco lodge is located in Ruhija the only one with a 180 degrees panoramic view over the primary forest and the range of volcanoes. When you reach the lodge, you will be welcomed by a wonderful team fully available to make your stay a memorable one with an unforgettable experience that makes you feel at home. The lodge is eco-friendly through its different eco practices.  The lodge is minimizing the environmental impact by using solar power on the roof of the lodge and they refuse to use generators since they produce noise and fumes.  The eco lodge is recycling water as well as reusing water. This is being done by sensitizing lodge staff on the best ways to reuse, recycle and reduce. Plastics are a major source of pollution so the lodge is finding ways of minimizing them. The lodge is also being eco-friendly by supporting the community through providing employment to the local people and also giving back to the community through giving donation in form of money, tangible products among other things. The lodge collects water from rain harvesting tanks. This water is used by clients to shower, flushing toilets, washing beddings as well as cleaning the lodge. They currently have 10 water harvesting tanks and they encourage the visitors to use the water carefully. 

GORILLA HILLS ECO LODGE

Gorilla hills lodge is located in Kisoro in the edges of the southern sector of Bwindi impenetrable national park hills. The lodge is made of the four entry points of the national park known for its amazing gorilla and park viewing experience set in the heart of the jungle of the gorilla land- Bwindi impenetrable national park. You can gladly carryout mountain viewing. It has a garden and a terrace where you can view mountains the lodge was designed in a way that blends in with the surrounding environment in order to create a feel of being connected to nature. The lodge is carrying back all non-degradable litter such as bottles, tins, plastic bags to be disposed off in municipal dustbins only. The lodges is following the reduce, reuse and recycle practise as a way of being eco-friendly. 

BWINDI LOGDE

Bwindi lodge is located in Buhoma. The lodge has dramatic views of the impenetrable forest and it is a great place to spot the moneys and birds hidden in the foliage. The lodge is has the Bwindi bar that has the most stylish and colourful bar in the area. It has a rolex wrap and delicious Gorillini cocktail which is a must have after a gorilla tracking in Bwindi.  The bar was set up by Volcanoes safaris Partnership to train disadvantaged local young people in hospitality and this great act describes them as eco-friendly. The lodge has self-sustaining projects enrich the livelihoods of local communities, promote the conservation of the great apes, restore natural habitats and work with communities and institutions to reduce human wildlife conflict.
