The park has more than 360 mountain gorillas, plenty of wildlife, and hundreds of bird species. So gorilla trekking offers you a great opportunity to penetrate the impenetrable Bwindi forest in search of the most endangered mountain gorillas. Not only will you see mountain gorillas but you view also wildlife in Lake Mburo National Park.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Kampala>Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Pick up from the hotel by a Jewel safari professional driver guide who will brief you about the safari. Thereafter, you will set off from your hotel and embark on your journey to the South-western part of Uganda. An 8 hour drive to Bwindi is quite a long one but worth it because you will be able to enjoy the beauty of the countryside scenery. You will have a brief enroute stopover at the equator crossing in Kayabwe for a photo session and a brief experience. You will then proceed to Mbarara for lunch. After lunch, you will continue with the journey to Bwindi, arriving late in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Bwindi. After breakfast, you will have your packed lunch ready then drive to the park headquarters for a briefing before the gorilla trekking activity. After briefing, you will be assigned a group to track a particular gorilla family. You will be led into the jungle by an armed ranger who will keep in touch with the monitoring team on ground in order to easily locate the mountain gorillas. The activity takes between 3-7 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Once you locate the gorilla family, you will be given 1 hour to watch them in their natural habitat playing, feeding, resting and going about their daily life. Depending on the time you return from the forest and level of fatigue, you can choose to do a community visit to the Batwa or relax at the lodge.
Day 3: Bwindi> Lake Mburo National Park. After your breakfast, you will embark on your journey to Uganda’s smallest savannah park. Along the way, you may have several stopovers then later have hot lunch in Mbarara before proceeding for the afternoon cruise at Mburo in search of different wildlife. After the cruise, you may take on a short game drive then later check in to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Lake Mburo National Park> Kampala. After breakfast, you will take on a brief morning game drive viewing different animals like; common elands, savannah baboons, giraffes, and bird species like Red-faced Barbet, Coqui Francolin, Black-bellied Bustard among other animal species and later return to the hotel for lunch. After lunch, you will check out of the hotel and transfer to Kampala. Optional drop off at your hotel or at the airport for your flight.
