Food & Service
Meals at Tchegera Island Camp—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—are served communally in the mess tent. In the evenings, hurricane lamps and a campfire are often set up on the beach, creating a magical atmosphere as Nyiragongo and Nyamulagira volcanoes illuminate the night sky with their fiery glow.
Tented Suite
Tchegera Island Camp features eight safari-style tented rooms, all located along the island’s black sandy shore. Configurable as single, double, or twin setups, the tents are simple yet comfortable, equipped with flushing toilets, bucket showers, and generator-powered electricity. Each tent also includes a small veranda, offering the perfect spot to sit and watch the sun set over the lake.
Activities
Located just 30 minutes by boat from Goma, Tchegera Island Camp is a peaceful retreat and a welcome respite after exploring the region. The island offers opportunities to spot African eagles, cormorants, and gulls. Guests can also spend time strolling along the beaches or taking advantage of sea kayaks to explore the surrounding waters and enjoy more of the island’s natural beauty.
