Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali.
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, meet a Jewel Safaris representative, transfer to the hotel, check in and have a briefing on your safari.
Overnight at Heaven Retreat on a bed and breakfast-basis.
Day 2: Kigali– Nyanza Palace – Nyungwe Forest National Park.
Following morning breakfast, start for Nyungwe Forest National Park – one of Africa’s oldest parks/rainforests.
Visit Nyanza Palace and the Ethnographic Museum. Nyanza is a historical place that used to be the capital and battle zone for power struggles. Lunch en route and later proceed to the lodge. Meals and overnight at the accommodation Nyungwe Forest Lodge.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy walk.
You will have an early entry into the forest sanctuary with a walking stick and search for the chimpanzees. Experienced and knowledgeable rangers will guide you and share information on not only chimps but also the Flora and Fauna of Nyungwe Forest. Look out for forest birds and other primate species including Black & White Colobus. Meet an excited chimpanzee family, take photos and watch them as they interact. Later follow your footsteps back to the lodge.
In the afternoon, go for a Canopy walk and be on top of the Forest. This activity offers the opportunity to have aerial views of Nyungwe’s Flora.
Meals and overnight accommodation at Nyungwe Forest Lodge
Day 4: Nyungwe Forest National Park > Volcanoes National Park
Following morning breakfast, start for Virunga National Park. Proceed to the lodge arriving in time for lunch. Have a relaxed afternoon and prepare for the next day’s gorilla walk. Meals and overnight accommodation at Mountain Gorilla Lodge.
Day 5: Gorilla Tracking in Parc des Volcanoes.
Early morning transfers to the park headquarters for a briefing by the park staff.
With drinking water, packed lunch, and a walking stick you enter the forest in search of the famous endangered Mountain Gorillas. The rainforest is intimate and very quiet but meeting gentle giants in their natural habitat is a breathtaking experience.
You will spend an hour with the gorillas and later slop back to the base

Day 6: Volcanoes National Park – Kigali.
Following morning breakfast, start for Kigali. Visit the Genocide Memorial Centre and proceed to the airport arriving in time for your next international flight/ or drop off at your hotel in Kigali.
