Detailed Itinerary: 9 Days Kibale, Bwindi, and Murchison Safari

Day 1; Arrival

Your guide will pick you up from Entebbe international airport and your guide will welcome you for your safari. You will be driven to the hotel for check and depending on your time of arrival you will have a tour around Entebbe. Accommodation; 2 friends guesthouse (midrange), Cycads guesthouse (budget)

Day 2; drive to Murchison falls via Zziwa rhino sanctuary

After having breakfast at the hotel, you will check out and begin your journey to Murchison falls national park. You will drive through different local towns including Luwero which is famous for pineapples and many other fruits and you will have a taste of the tropical fruits in Uganda before continuing to Nakasongola at Zziwa rhino sanctuary for rhino tracking. The activity will start with a short briefing by the rangers and after this, you will head out into the wild on foot following trails and searching for the rhinos. You will get close to nature and also record the rhinos during the rhino tracking experience after which you will drive to Masindi for lunch. Your guide will drive you to Murchison falls national park after lunch for viewing the top of the falls. During the viewing of the falls, you will get close to the waterfalls and feel and hear the water splash around you as the rapids collide with the rocks forming the waterfalls. After this experience, your guide will drive you to the lodge for check-in and to prepare for dinner and an overnight stay. Day 3; game drive and boat cruise

You will wake up early for a morning wildlife viewing experience with your guide as you enjoy a game drive in the savannah plains of Murchison falls national park. During the game drive, you will look out for wildlife species such as elephants, buffalos, giraffes, waterbucks, impalas, topi, bushbucks, lions, leopards, warthogs, and hippos among others in the national park. After the morning game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch and prepare for a bottom of the falls boat cruise which is popular during safaris to Murchison falls park. The boat cruise takes 2 to 3 hours and you will enjoy the sunset, watching hippos and Nile crocodiles in the water, elephants, buffalos, and giraffes by the water shores as well as other wildlife and bird species.  You will also learn more about the national park during the boat cruise after which you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Day 4; transfer to Kibale national park

After having breakfast at the lodge, you will check out and drive to the next exciting destination on your itinerary which is Kibale national park also referred to as the primate capital of the world. You will have a stop in Hoima town for lunch before proceeding to Kibale national park to check in and relax at the lodge. Accommodation; Turaco treetops lodge (midrange), Kibale forest camp (budget)

Day 5; chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi tour

You will have an early breakfast at the lodge and proceed to the Kanyanchu headquarters for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking in Kibale national park. After the briefing, you will be allocated ranger guides who will trek with you into the Kibale forest. while you explore the forest, you will see different tree species, and encounter primates like black and white colobus monkeys and also butterflies. You will spend 1 hour with the chimpanzees in the forest and return to the park headquarters to receive your certificates for completing the activity. You will also engage in a guided nature walk to Bigodi which is also a famous bird-watching spot in Kibale national park. You will hear different bird calls during the nature walk and also get closer to the forest and the surroundings and see more primates in the trees. Day 6; drive to Queen Elizabeth national park

Your breakfast will be served at the lodge ahead of your journey from Kibale national park to Queen Elizabeth national park. You will enjoy views of the Rwenzori mountains and the countryside during the drive to Queen Elizabeth national park where you will enjoy a game drive and look out for wildlife such as elephants, buffalos, antelopes, warthogs, and many more. Your guide will drive you to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Accommodation; Elephant hab lodge (midrange), Pumba safari cottages (budget)

Day 7; drive to Bwindi national park

You will enjoy another game drive around Queen Elizabeth national park after early breakfast at the lodge on your way to Bwindi national park. Depending on your time of arrival in Bwindi, you will enjoy an optional cultural tour and interact with the locals. Accommodation; Buhoma haven lodge (midrange), Rushaga haven lodge (budget)

Day 8; gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural tour

Your breakfast will be served early at the lodge and your guide will drive you to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. You will enjoy a warm welcome in form of a traditional dance performance at the park headquarters and after this, you will have a briefing and be divided into groups of 8 and allocated rangers. You will trek into Bwindi’s impenetrable forest and start your search for the gorillas following different trails. You will see many birds and other primates in the forest and when you find the gorillas, you will spend 1 hour with them recording photos and videos and observing their behavior. After this encounter, you will return to the park headquarters for your trekking certificates. You will also engage in a Batwa cultural tour and interact with the Batwa, get to learn how they prepare their meals and hunt, gather fruits, and also participate in their traditional dance. After this tour, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Accommodation; Buhoma haven lodge (midrange), Rushaga haven lodge (budget)

Day 9; drive to Entebbe

After breakfast and checking out of the lodge, you will be driven to Entebbe international airport with a stop at the equator for photos and also watch the water experiment. You will also have a stop for lunch before continuing to Entebbe airport.
