The Nairobi Orphanage serves as a treatment and rehabilitation for wild animals. It was established in 1964, the orphanage is the oldest of its kind in Kenya and it also serves as an educational and training facility where more than 20 different animal species and bird species are rehabilitated back to good health after being abandoned and injured. The animal orphanage is so much open to the general public to tour and also allows safari walks inside.
All the animals receive a medical examination and necessary treatment before being placed in a feeding and rehabilitation program based on its individual needs. One of the most important projects is to breed certain animal species which saves wild species from being captured and also avoids large numbers of deaths in the catching process. The area has a concrete strip about 3 feet inside of the fence so that they can walk on the dry ground. They even want to re-site the Nairobi Animal Orphanage and change the name to the Nairobi Park Education Centre.
The animal Orphanage helps herbivores like monkeys, baboons, buffaloes, and warthogs. Carnivores like lions, cheetahs, rare Sokobe cats, Jackals, Servals, and hyenas among others as well as bird species like Ostrich, parrots, guinea fowl, and crown cranes among others. The entry fee for Kenyan residents is 215 for adults and 125 for children, for Kenyan residents with Alien identity cards pay KES 300 per adult and KES 170 for children. The non-residents pay 22USD to 25USD and children 13USD. You will have a chance to see these animals feed, and play among other things.

What To Do At Nairobi Animal Orphanage
Game Viewing
This is not like other conventional and regular animal parks. It is also not the usual game watch where you can spot healthy animals grazing. In this place, you see animals that have survived illness, abandonment, and injuries. These animals are survivors of diversity. It is really amazing to watch them fight for their second chance at life. Every cage of an animal is labeled with information about each animal. This will help you to know about them and you will not need a guide to interpret anything for you. However, if you have questions to ask that are related to the animal you can ask the guides.
Explore the Rehabilitation Program
You will get an opportunity to learn more about the animals in the rehabilitation program. The aim is to rescue animals, you will catch up with the efforts of the orphanage since they will tell you when and how they rescued a certain animal. Every single animal in the Animal Orphanage has been rescued by the rangers and they provide medical treatment for it. Afterward, they introduce them to individual rehabilitation programs. You should also know that these animals are later released back into the African wild.
Bird Watching
Birds too are rescued by the rangers and brought to Nairobi Animal Orphanage. The bird species that are rescued and treated include Parrots, Crown cranes, Ostrich, and Guinea fowl among other species. This would be a good experience for visitors that love the birding experience.
