Detailed Itinerary Of 6 days Masai Mara and Samburu luxury safari

Day 1: Fly to Samburu National Reserve 

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be picked up by our safari-driver guide or at your hotel in Nairobi and transfer to Wilson Airstrip for your flight to Samburu National Reserve. 

Upon landing, you will be picked up by a guide and go for an en-route game drive as you head to your lodge, check in for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon you will go for a game drive in the semi-arid landscape enjoying sightings of animals such as Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx, the blue legged Somali Ostrich among others. 

In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Accommodation: Elephant Bedroom Camp 

Main Destination: Samburu National Reserve 

Day 2: Full day in Samburu National Reserve 

Wake up early, have a cup of coffee and head for a sunrise game drive. Early morning offers a chance to see animals as they are waking wake and predators returning from their hunting sprees. Some of the animals you will spot include buffaloes, hippos, leopards, cheetahs, olive baboons, grant’s gazelles, impalas and waterbucks among others. 

Later, you will return to the lodge for a full breakfast and short rest. After lunch, you will return to the reserve for another game drive till sunset. 

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Samburu National Reserve – Lake Nakuru National Park 

Wake up early for breakfast, checkout of the lodge and with en-route game drive, you will embark on a journey to Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge after check-in, in the afternoon you will have a game drive. 

Lake Nakuru National Park is renowned for its huge population of Rothschild giraffes and rhinos (both black and white rhinos) which you will see during the game drive. Other animals to expect include gazelles, leopards, lions, spotted hyenas, buffaloes and olive baboons among others.

Main Destination: Lake Nakuru National Reserve 

Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara Game Reserve

Have early breakfast, checkout of the lodge and embark on a journey to Lake Nakuru National Park. Along the way you will enjoy views of the Rift Valley Escarpments at the view point, arrive in the reserve in time for lunch which you will enjoy after check-in at the lodge.

In the afternoon, you will go for a game drive through the endless plains of Masai Mara National Reserve. The reserve is famous for hosting large concentrations of wildlife including the iconic big five – lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, elephants and rhinos and the Great Wildebeest Migration – the largest migration of land mammals on the planet. 

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 5: Full day in Masai Mara National Reserve 

On this day, you will enjoy exploring the endless plains of Masai Mara National Reserve on a full day game drive.

After breakfast, with your packed lunch you will head to Masai Mara for a full day game drive. You will have ample time to explore almost every corner of the reserve and spot a variety of wildlife including lions, buffaloes, wildebeests, rhinos, gazelles, cheetahs, African wild dogs, banded mongoose among others as they freely graze in the savannah grasslands.

Your lunch will be sent at a picnic site along the banks of Mara River which is infested by hippos and crocodiles. 

Continue exploring the reserve till evening, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Day 6: Fly back to Nairobi and Departure

Have a leisurely breakfast, head to the airstrip for your domestic flight back to Nairobi’s Wilson airport. On landing, you will be picked up by our guide and be transferred either to the hotel in Nairobi or at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight.
