Masai Mara National Reserve is the first destination you will visit on this safari, the reserve is among the best wildlife destinations in Africa famously known for The Great Migration where millions of wildebeests and thousands of zebras and gazelles are seen on their annual circular movement. Masai Mara national reserve is also home to abundance of wildlife such as lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, giraffes, elephants, cheetahs among others. 

Lake Nakuru National Park is next destination to visit on this 5 days Kenya Safari, the park is a birder’s paradise endowed with beautiful flamingoes found on the rim of Lake Nakuru creating a pink coloring. 

The spectacular Samburu National Reserve is the last destination to visit, Samburu is a unique wildlife conservation haven famous for an abundance of rare species of animals such as the Grevy’s Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk and Grey Zebras.

Detailed itinerary of 5 Days Kenya Culture and Wildlife Safari

Day 1: transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve 

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or after breakfast at your hotel in Nairobi City, you will be picked up by our guide and after a short briefing. You will embark on a journey to the famous Masai Mara National Reserve via the beautiful savannah grasslands and the Great Rift Valley where you will enjoy magnificent views of the escarpments and magnificent views of Mount Longonot and Mount Suswa. 

Masai Mara National Reserve is among the 9 wonders of the world and a renowned wildlife safari destination in Africa for the wildebeest migration with Mara River crossing happening along the Mara River. The reserve is home to abundance of wildlife including zebras, lions, leopards, elephants, cheetahs, gazelles, giraffes among others. 

You will arrive in time for lunch after check in at your lodge, then go for an afternoon game drive exploring the Masai plains. In the evening you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Full Day Game Viewing in Masai Mara National Reserve with evening Masai Cultural Tour

After breakfast at the lodge, you will head to the plains of Masai Mara national reserve for a full day game drives with a picnic lunch set at one of the picnic sites along Mara River. Enjoy your meals and scenic views of the endless plains of Masai Mara and animals like Nile crocodiles in the waters of Mara River. 

The rolling grasslands of Masai Mara offer fascinating game viewing experiences, during the full day game drive you will enjoy seeing many animals including lions, leopards, giraffes, gazelles, elands, cape buffaloes and many birds.  

In late afternoon, you will go for a visit to the Masai village for a cultural experience. On the visit you will be enlightened on the Masai Culture, traditions and norms. You will participate in their local dances, taste some of their meals and interact with the elders which will leave you more enlightened. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. 

Main Destination:  Masai Mara National Reserve 

Meal Plan: Full Board 

Day 3: transfer to Lake Nakuru and explore the lake 

After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and embark on a drive to Lake Nakuru National Park a birder’s haven and rhino sanctuary. The park is famous for its flamingoes, the endangered Rothschild, black and white rhinos, leopards and many more. 

When you arrive in the park, you will have lunch at your lodge after check-in and then go for an afternoon game drive. Look out for huge populations of flamingoes on the shores of Lake Nakuru and many animals, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Accommodation: Lake Nakuru Lodge 

Meal plan: Full Board 

Day 4: transfer to Samburu National park and afternoon game drive 

After breakfast at your lodge, you will depart for Samburu National Reserve heading north via the Mount Kenya – the second –largest mountain in Africa. Arrive in time for lunch, then check in to your lodge. Freshen up and then head for an afternoon game drive to explore the wilderness of Samburu – famous for uncommon wildlife species which have adopted to the desert like conditions in the area. 

Lookout for uncommon Grevy’’s zebras, gerenuk antelopes seen standing on hind legs to feed, Somali Ostriches with distinct blue legs, shy Oryx, elephants, giraffes, crocodiles, lions, hippos among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. 

Main Destination: Samburu National Reserve 

Accommodation: Samburu Game Lodge

Meal plan: Full Board

Day 5: Drive back to Nairobi

After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and go for the last game drive. This is the best time for game viewing as animals are very active feeding, you will then exit the park and embark on a journey to Nairobi. Have en-route lunch and when you arrive in the city, you will be dropped off at the airport for your international flight back home.
