Detailed itinerary of 5 Days Aberdare National Park, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara safari

Day 1: Nairobi – Aberdares National Park 

You will meet your guide, a representative of Jewel Safaris after breakfast. He will give you a short briefing about the safari and embark on a journey to Aberdares National Park arriving in good time for lunch after check-in at your lodge.

After a mini – rest you will go for an afternoon game drive for an encounter with several animals including giant forest hog, bush pig, tree hyrax, large spotted genet, the elusive bongo, herds of elephants, leopards, lions among others.  In the evening, you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Aberdare National Park – Lake Nakuru National Park 

After breakfast you will checkout of the lodge and leave with game drive en-route to Lake Nakuru National park – a birder’s paradise and a flamingo haven, there are thousands of flamingos (lesser and greater) along the shores of Lake Nakuru one of the rift valley lakes in Kenya. 

You will arrive in time for lunch which you will enjoy after check in, in the afternoon you will go for a game drive around the lake where you will see thousands of greater and lesser flamingos, lions, black and white rhinos, buffaloes, Rothschild giraffes among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara National Reserve 

After breakfast, you will leave for Masai Mara National Reserve – the most popular reserve in Kenya and world, the reserve is wildlife crown jewel as it is a home to the Big Five and the Wildebeest Migration.

Masai Mara National Reserve home to the richest concentration of wildlife including leopards, rhinos, buffaloes, lions, elephants, antelopes, oribis, hyenas, giraffes, Nile crocodiles and plenty of birdlife.

You will arrive in the reserve in time for lunch which you will enjoy at one of the picnic sites along Mara river or at one of the picnic sites in the endless plains of the reserve, then go for game viewing drive.

From the pop-up roof and windows, you will spot many animals as they freely graze in the endless plains of Masai Mara. You will also enjoy the spectacular sunset over the endless plains of Mara, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Masai Mara National Reserve 

After breakfast, you will head to the plains of Mara for a full day game drive, remember to carry your packed lunch which you will enjoy at one of the picnic sites. 

Full day game drive in Masai Mara national reserve gives you ample time to explore almost each corner of Maasai Mara national reserve and have high chances of spotting the Big Five – lion, leopard, buffaloes, rhinos and elephants.

If you visit in the right time, you will also watch the Great Wildebeest Migration when the plains of Masai Mara are filled with millions of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles on their annual journey in search for water and green pastures. 

This day is flexible, you can choose to have early morning and late game drives. 

Alternatively, you can choose to do hot air balloon safari experience giving the aerial view of the Masai plains and its huge concentration of animals or visit the local Masai people famous for their bravery and co-existence with the animals over the years. return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Departure
