2 Days Lake Mburo Safari -Best Wildlife Uganda Safari Overview
This safari takes you to the smallest of Uganda’s savannah parks. Lake Mburo National Park lies within two districts of Mbarara and Kiruhura in the western part of Uganda. The park is about 370 km² in size, with an altitude of 1,220m – 1,828m above sea level. The wetland habitats comprise about 20% of the park’s surface.
The park is home to hundreds of bird species, over 350 including Crested Barbet, Dusky Lark, and many more. A variety of animals including African cape buffaloes, Burchell’s zebras, hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, elephants, and monitor lizards to list but a few. - Day 1: Pickup from your hotel/airport pickup/transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
- Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer to Kampala.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Kampala>Lake Mburo. Have breakfast and meet your guide at the hotel or place of residence for a short briefing about the safari. You will depart and start the journey to the park with an enroute stop at the equator for photography and brief experience before proceeding to the park. As you enter the park, you may encounter animals like; Burchell’s zebras, impalas, harnessed bushbuck, and African Cape buffaloes. You will have lunch as you await the afternoon boat cruise. While on the cruise, you will see more animal species including hippos, crocodiles, and bird species such as the African Fish Eagle, Pied King Fisher, and African Finfoot in addition to the beautiful scenery and simple pleasure attached to being on the water. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer to Kampala. After an early breakfast, you will head out in search of more species with chances of seeing Burchell’s zebras, Nubian giraffes, buffaloes, impalas, elands, Defassa waterbucks, bohor’s reedbuck, common duicker and klipspringers. You will also see bird species like red-faced Barbet, Coqui Francolin, Black-bellied Bustard among other species. After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and check-out. Shortly embark on your journey back to Kampala. Optional drop off at your hotel or at the airport for your flight.
