This 10 days and 9 nights Wildebeest Migration tour is designed to offer you the best wildebeest calving season regarded as the Best Kept Secret of the Great Migration,  The calving season usually takes place between January and February each year, for many years this route of the migration has remained the same , however the exact timing of the journey entirely depends on the season rain.  On this safari, you will watch thousands of young calves being born and taking their first steps. In addition to the large herds of wildebeests and the calves, you will watch the predators such as lions, leopards, African wild dogs as they try to snatch away the vulnerable calves.

Highlights of 10 Day Calving Season  Day 1: Arrival  Day 2: Arusha  Day 3: Tarangire National Park  Day 4 – 5: Lake Manyara National Park  Day 6: Ndutu Plains, Southern Serengeti  Day 7: Ndutu to Ngorongoro Crater  Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater  Day 9: Lake Eyasi  Day 10: Departure  Detailed itinerary of 10 Day Calving Season   Day 1: Arrival  Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, after finishing all the formalities, you will be met by your safari guide and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha for dinner and overnight stay.  Accommodation: Arusha Coffee Lodge  Meal plan: Dinner  Day 2: Arusha  After breakfast at your hotel, you will head out and meet the local people, spend time with children at a school and take part in a dance, drum or cooking class. Visit the Cultural Heritage Center or Shanga Workshop.  Spend the evening relaxing at the hotel, have dinner and stay overnight  Accommodation: Arusha Coffee Lodge  Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Day 3: Tarangire National Park  After breakfast you depart from Arusha for Tarangire national park with your picnic lunch boxes, from Arusha to Tarangire it is a drive of approximately 2 hours and when you arrive in the park, you will enjoy a game drive till later afternoon. Then head to your lodge for check in, dinner and overnight stay. Tarangire National Park boasts the greatest concentration of wildlife in Tanzania coming only second after Serengeti National Park. During the season, the Tarangire River attracts many thirsty wildlife and the park gets to be filled with a large variety of birds and animals such as lions, leopards, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes, large herds of elephants among others.  While in Tarangire National Park, you will enjoy views of the iconic Baobab Trees and the breathtaking views of the Maasai Steppe and the mountains to the south. Accommodation: Tarangire Safari Lodge   Meal plan: Dinner Day 4: Lake Manyara National Park  After breakfast, you will head to Lake Manyara National Park a wonderful Tanzania safari destination boasting breathing scenery and renowned for the tree climbing lions and the growing population of baboons and blue monkeys.  Lake Manyara National Park is a narrow strip of land sandwiched between the towering cliffs of the Gregory Rift Valley and Lake Manyara, the park also hosts fantastic bird life with thousands of flamingoes flocking the shores of the lake.  Along the way to the park, you will have a stopover at Mto Wa Mbu a cultural vibrant town and also visit the market along the way. When you arrive in the park, you will have a game drive in the park enjoying views of many animals including giraffes, hippos, zebras, impalas among others.  After lunch, you will head towards the Ndutu Plains of the Southern Serengeti, along the way you will enjoy spectacular views of the crater highlands and have a quick stop at the rim for a spectacular view of the Ngorongoro Crater.  Accommodation: Ndtutu Safari Lodge   Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Day 5 – 6: Ndutu Plains, Southern Serengeti  Enjoy two full days in the Ndutu Plains, this area is home to high densities of cheetahs and lions particularly when the wildebeest inhabit these plains that is from December to March. The area has two beautiful soda lakes and since it is Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you are allowed to drive off road for a close – up view of the wildlife.  The Ndutu Plains are the traditional birthing ground for the wildebeests which are attracted to the area by the high concentrations of phosphorus in the soils which is an essential mineral for lactating mothers.  Accommodation: Ndtutu Safari Lodge   Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Day 7: Ndutu to Ngorongoro Crater  Wake up early for breakfast and head to Ndutu plains for an early morning game drive, this is a perfect time to see animals as they are more active and also see one of the best sunrises you will ever witness in a life time.  After the game drive, return to the camp/lodge for lunch then proceed to Ngorongoro crater – the 8th National Wonder of the World.  Accommodation: Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge    Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater  Have early breakfast and descend 600 meters into Ngorongoro Crater for game viewing experience with picnic lunch boxes, Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact and unfilled caldera in the world which is why it is listed as the 8th Natural Wonder of the World.  The crater supports over 20,000 – 30,000 animal species that are indigenous to East Africa, the crater hosts the highest densities of predators in Africa such as lions, hyenas, leopards and cheetahs. It is also one of the best places in Africa to see the endangered black rhino.  After a full day of exploring the crater and enjoy sights of various animals, you will head towards Lake Eyasi, check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.  Accommodation: Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge  Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Day 9: Lake Eyasi  Wake up early before sunrise and head to visit the Hadzibe tribe which is one of the last true nomadic tribes in Africa, on your visit, you will get a deeper insight into the lifestyle of the Hadzibe people and join them in their daily morning activities. This is an off the beaten track experience and by any means it does not feel touristic, you will have great photo opportunities, join men in their daily hunting or women in their fruit gathering sessions.  After the mind-blowing experience, you will visit the beautiful Lake Eyasi – a seasonal shallow Salt Lake on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Later in the evening, you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.  Accommodation: Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge     Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Day 10: Departure   After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and embark on a drive back to Arusha with your packed lunch.  You will be dropped off either at the hotel or at the airport for your international flight back home.  END OF 10 DAY CALVING SEASON
