7 days Karamoja Cultural Safari
7 days Karamoja cultural safari is a safari which will begin in Entebbe and you will drive to the eastern part of Uganda via Moroto where you will engage in a hike on Mount Moroto, engage in a game drive in Kidepo national park and also interact with the Karamojong for a nomadic experience and also interact with the Ik people on Mount Morungole before returning to Kampala.
Detailed itinerary: Karamoja Cultural Safari
Day 1; arrival
Your guide will pick you up from Entebbe international airport on the 1st day of the safari and welcome you to Uganda. You will proceed to the awaiting safari vehicle and your guide will drive you to the hotel for check in.Day 2; pick up and drive to Moroto
After having breakfast at the hotel in Entebbe, you will begin your journey to the eastern part of Uganda passing through the Mabira rainforest as well as sugar cane plantations in Lugazi. You will also have a stop in Jinja town for lunch and after lunch you will be driven to Moroto where you will check in and prepare for dinner and overnight stay.Day 3; hike Mount Moroto
After having breakfast at the lodge, you will go for a hike on Mount Moroto which is located on the border of Kenya and Uganda. Mount Moroto is also the highest mountain in the Karamoja sub region. During this 1 day hike on Mount Moroto, you will hike about 10 km to the natural spring pool that flows over the steep ridge of the mountain down the plains. This hike takes about 5 to 6 hours and after returning from the hike, you will be driven to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4; game drive in Kidepo national park
You will have breakfast early at the lodge in Moroto and your guide will drive you to Kidepo national park where you will engage in game drives and search for wildlife species around the savannah plains such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffalos, waterbucks, impalas, topi, giraffes, zebras and many others. After the game drive in Kidepo national park, your guide will drive you to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.Day 5; Karimojong village tour and nomadic experience
After having breakfast at the lodge, you will have engage in a cultural experience in the Karimojong village. During this cultural tour, you will to interact with the locals, enjoy traditional dances and also experience the nomad lifestyle of the locals, visit the kraal and earn a lot about how the Karamojong take care of their livestock.
