Karongi beach is found in Karongi, a district commonly known as Akarere, in the western province of Rwanda. Karongi district has a capital called Rubengera.

Karongi district contains other areas like Kibuye the provincial capital and major Rwanda lakeside Resort. Karongi is located on the shores of Lake Kivu just about halfway down lake Gisenyi and Cyangugu.

The area is divided into different sectors [Imirenge] which include; Rugabano, Murambi, Getesi, Bwishura, Gishari, Burundi, Mubuga, and Twumbu.
